Warzone players want to pay to win the skin removed after the last tournament

The latest Warzone controversy once again reverts to the most “pay-to-win” skin in the game.

Call of Duty: Warzone is a game with more than a few glitches, but one of them has been lurking below the surface for a while now. In Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5, we saw the introduction of the Rook skin for Roze.

This entirely black skin makes the operator extremely difficult to see, especially in the darker areas of Verdansk. And although thousands of players are enjoying the skin, nothing ever came of requests to change it.

Now, Warzone players are rallying against the Pay to Win skin again, after seeing its dominance in a major tournament.

Why does Rook pay to win a skin in Warzone?

The Rook skin for Operator Roze in Warzone is classified as Pay to Win because it offers a real advantage in the game. Unlike other Call of Duty cosmetics, this all black skin makes it easy for users to blend in with shadows.

In fact, that’s probably the whole idea behind the skin, as there is little to no color all over the skin. Even the operator’s eyes are coated with black face paint, to eliminate visibility.

Although Warzone’s Pay to Win pistol is no longer in-game, this skin has been around for two seasons.

New players entering the battle royale cannot even get their hands on the Rook skin anymore. While Roze is available as a bundle in the store, the all-black appearance has been locked into level 100 of the Season 5 Battle Pass.

Because of this, the most OP skin in the game would require real money to unlock it, and maybe more to purchase the necessary levels, if you don’t have the hours to grind.

And what’s more, there’s no way to acquire the skin anymore, making it a Pay to Win perk that new players can’t get their hands on.

Should Rook be removed from Warzone?

But why reappear the skin of Roze’s Rook now, two seasons after the original controversy?

Simply put, it becomes a nuisance. It’s the signature sweaty tryhard skin that players in Warzone hate, but it gives those who use it a noticeable advantage.

Just look at this screenshot from the recent Warzone Twitch Rivals Doritos Bowl tournament. Every player waiting to go to the private lobby uses the Pay to Win skin, which is clearly beneficial.

When there is a whopping $ 250,000 to be won, who will not derive any possible benefit to win?

In the tournament, almost all of the competing players used the Rook skin, with 54 Operators available. No other skin gives this much advantage in the game, and players are once again turning to Activision to fix the issue.

Since this was a Battle Pass skin, Rook is unlikely to be removed. However, the skin might undergo slight changes, to make it more visible in games.

In that same tournament, a Warzone streamer was banned from the competition after cheating allegations. However, it now appears that the player was innocent, which led to Dr Disrespect calling the tournament organizers.
