Activision added 120 fps support to Call of Duty: Warzone on Xbox Series X, but not on PlayStation 5.
Warzone gets 120 fps on Xbox Series X
Support, which was not mentioned in the latest Modern Warfare patch notes released this week, was spotted by gamers when they tested battle royale on Microsoft’s new console.
Here’s a screenshot of the Xbox Series X:
Initial tests from Digital Foundry confirm that Warzone is now targeting 120 fps on Xbox Series X, but mostly hits between 100 and 120 fps.
Warzone limited to 60fps on PS5
Initial tests from Digital Foundry confirm that Warzone is limited to 60 fps on PlayStation 5.
Here’s a screenshot of the performance of the PS5:
The PS5 offers a choice of quality and performance modes on the UI, but even in performance mode, Warzone still runs at 60 fps.
It seems strange that a game that has cross play enabled by default on all platforms will run at different frame rates on Xbox Series X and PS5.
Why isn’t Warzone running at 120 fps on PS5?
Warzone, which looks like a PlayStation 4 app when downloaded to PS5, does not start at 120Hz and there are no in-game menu functions to activate it.
If 120fps support is in the game, it is currently inaccessible.
Since Warzone runs on PS5 through PS4 backward compatibility, it might take a full port on PS5 to enable 120 fps on the Sony console.
