One of Gabby Petito’s last sightings before her disappearance was so alarming to staff at a Wyoming restaurant that they reported the encounter to the FBI this week.

Details of the August 27 incident at The Merry Piglets restaurant in Jackson are scarce, but a witness told CNN there was “turmoil” for everyone as tensions apparently built up between Petito and Brian Laundrie , her fiancé who disappeared around the same time. the body of the 22-year-old Long Island native has been found.

The laundromat, which has been declared a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance, is now the subject of a massive search effort.

Nina Angelo, who told CNN she was on vacation in Wyoming when she saw Petito and Laundrie at the restaurant, described a distressing scene that eerily resembles another domestic incident reported weeks earlier in Moab, in Utah.

Petito was seen crying as Laundrie behaved aggressively, entering and exiting the restaurant and apparently going after restaurant staff, Angelo told CNN. She remembered the waitress who served the couple as distraught.

A restaurant manager was quoted as confirming that there had been “one incident” and that it was reported to the FBI this week.

The couple were then arrested by police after another witness called 911 to report that he saw Laundrie “slap” Petito. No charges were filed, with the police simply separating the two and helping Laundrie secure a hotel room so the two could “reset their mental state.”

With Petito now dead, Laundrie is at the center of an FBI investigation into his murder. But it stays in the wind, with days of searching effort at a wildlife preserve in North Port, Florida, where it was believed to have found nothing.
