Tuesday’s Washington Capitals-Philadelphia Flyers game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues on the Flyers, a source confirmed to ESPN.
The Flyers are now the fifth NHL team on hiatus. The Buffalo Sabers, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils have all had games postponed this week thanks to clusters of COVID-19 cases.
Last week, the NHL improved its safety protocols in the arena, including increasing social distancing in the locker rooms and removing the glass behind the benches for increased air circulation. The NHL has also tried to force players to arrive on the ice at least an hour and 45 minutes before a game – although the league has relaxed its stance on this, due to a significant setback from players.
The NHL tests players and staff with PCR testing on a daily basis, but has started testing faster in arenas, especially on game days.
