The FBI, in an intelligence report obtained by the Post, said it was monitoring individuals downloading maps of sensitive areas around Washington and explaining how those locations could be used to penetrate security, the Post reported.

The intelligence report warned that members of QAnon and “the lone wolves” have indicated they plan to travel to Washington for Biden’s swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, the Post reported.

“But the intelligence briefing did not identify any specific plot to attack the inaugural events” that would be similar to the Jan. 6 insurgency against the United States Capitol, in which some QAnon members participated, the Post said.

The FBI noted that it detected “suspicious traffic” on communications systems used by some participants in the Jan. 6 attack on Capitol Hill – but “nothing to indicate specific action,” according to the Post.

The newspaper said the FBI declined to “characterize the credibility or seriousness of the threats it described” in its briefing report.

The agency reported to the Post comments made by FBI Director Christopher Wray last week, in which he said the FBI was attending “extended” discussions around the inauguration and said “one of the real challenges in this space is trying to distinguish what is what is potential. “

“We are monitoring all incoming leads – whether they are calls for armed protests, potential threats that stem from the January 6 Capitol violation, or other types of potential threats leading up to inaugural events and various other targets, ”Wray said.

CNN previously reported that the FBI is checking the thousands of National Guard soldiers providing security at the inauguration before they arrive in Washington to avoid any insider threats, and the U.S. military is working with the Secret Service to determine if there are any soldiers who require additional substantive examination.

Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said on Monday that there was “no intelligence indicating an internal threat” at Biden’s inauguration, adding: “We are leaving no stone unturned to secure the capital.”

Following the Capitol Uprising earlier this month, there was a massive security presence in Washington for Biden’s inauguration, with more than 20,000 National Guard troops expected in the city to help secure the ‘event.
