Washington state sheriff’s deputy stabbed in neck, shoots suspect: report

A Washington state sheriff’s deputy underwent surgery for a stab wound to his neck late Friday after an altercation with a suspect, according to a report.

The suspect was airlifted for his own medical treatment, after the MP fired shots at him in response to the alleged knife attack, Q13 FOX from Seattle reported.

The incident occurred in Yelm, a town in Thurston County, about 32 miles south of Tacoma. The weapon used for the stabbing has not been described.

The MP was called to the scene following a report that a visitor refused to leave a home, according to the report. The stabbing occurred shortly after the deputy arrived.

The deputy, in his thirties, is said to be in stable condition. The suspect’s state of health was not immediately known.

Neighbors reported hearing at least three gunshots, KOMO-TV from Seattle reported.

Authorities said the incident was still under investigation.
