Watch 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S sets new Nürburgring class record

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S claims a new record around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes and 23.009 seconds or 7: 27.800 depending on how the company is timing things. More info in a moment, but check out the tour video above first.

There are several accepted ways of timing a lap of the Nürburgring. A distance of 20.6 kilometers (12.8 miles) is what we typically see in videos from automakers and in tests from publications like Germany. Automotive and sports engine. AMG development engineer Demian Schaffert drove the AMG GT 63 S to set its new record. Thanks to newly tuned elastokinematics and other small tweaks, the sedan was found to be 2.3 seconds faster than an attempt in the fall of 2018. The one in the last race had the optional AMG aerodynamic pack to improve stability at higher speeds and the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Technically, Mercedes claims the Nürburgring record in the “luxury” category. It beat the Porsche Panamera’s 7: 25.04 lap on the 12.8 mile track from August 2020.
