Watch Ariana Grande’s Fortnite Concert with Mac Miller Shoutout

This weekend, Ariana Grande became the latest musician to enter the digital world of Fortnite. Its great flaw The tour event takes place over the next few days and is less of a virtual concert and more than a trippy interactive adventure with weird visuals and mini-games.

Announced last weekend, after a few leaks that spoiled things, Ariana Grande is in the leadining what Epic calls the “Provided Visit of the fault. The pop star plays virtually five in-game shows hosted over three days. The first event took place on August 6. A second rehearsal of the event ended earlier today. Tomorrow, August 8, it all ends with three more chances to attend the show. YesYou can read more details about when it all happens here.

So what actually happens during his big in-game event? Surprisingly, a little! You can watch the whole thing below courtesy of Games pot.

During the Rift Tour event, players cannot get hurt and instead participate in various segments which each have their own songs. At one point, players slide around a long tube of colored mud. Later, players are strapped into planes and given the chance to shoot a big enemy and purple crystals. Other segments have players running through a strange maze of Escher-esque stairs and pillars or fly through the clouds on magical llamas that leave behind rainbow trails. Like I said, there is a lot going on.

At one point in the event, Grande’s avatar is seen ride big white stairs to a bright white light. During this part, we hear him sing the song “The path” which features Mac Miller. He tragically pass absent in 2018. The two had been dating as of 2016. Many see it as a clear nod to Miller and his untimely. death.

Although this is not the first virtual concert to take place in Fortnite, this is by far the best and most impressive to date. It definitely beats that virtual Korn gig I went to 3D Adventure Quest. (No offense to Korn lead singer Johnathan Davis.)

I know some might be tempted to roll their eyes or clench their fists at “the children”. But it’s a really neat and legitimately cool thing. Even if you don’t like Ariana Grande’s music, the event seems like a blast. Sure, Fortnite has changed a lot since it appeared a few years ago, however, I’m okay with the game by trying bigger, weirder events like this. As someone who doesn’t like battle royale games, these events are one of the main reasons I still have Fortnite installed on my Xbox.

If you want to try to attend the concert, the first rehearsal of the event begins tomorrow at 12 p.m. ET.
