Bruce Springsteen helped celebrate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ Inauguration Day celebration tonight (January 20) with a performance of “Land of Hope and Dreams” at the Lincoln Memorial. Springsteen opened the evening’s Celebrating America event, hosted by Tom Hanks. Watch Springsteen perform the song solo on the acoustic guitar below.

Biden’s Celebrating America inaugural event also featured performances by Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, Foo Fighters, John Legend, and more. The swearing-in ceremony earlier today included performances by Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks. The new radicals gathered at the virtual parade to perform “You Get What You Give”. Katy Perry closed the evening with her hit “Firework”.

Springsteen has been a part of the Biden campaign since the 2020 Democratic National Convention, when he appeared in campaign promotions that soundtracked to songs by The climb. He also recounted one of Biden’s campaign commercials just before election day. Springsteen previously hosted an Inauguration Day event for Barack Obama and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Obama in 2016.

Last year Springsteen and the E Street Band released Letter to you, which was named one of “Pitchfork’s 35 Best Rock Albums of 2020”. Read Pitchfork’s Sunday review on Nebraska.
