Back when the first trailer fell for the Jordan Peele-produced “reinvention” of fellow in February 2020, we had already been hearing about it for over a year. Then something even more frightening happened, and it has been put on hold until now. Today the final trailer for fellow abandoned, but you have to say the magic words. On IDareYou.CandymanMovie.com, saying “Candyman” five times will unlock the trailer. But for those of us who were afraid our thoughts would accidentally summon Bloody Mary when we were kids, there’s also the official trailer above. We see some iconic touchpoints that fans will recognize from fellow movies of yesteryear: the long hook sticking out of the main character’s bloody arm stump, a fair amount of bees (although we’re hoping for even more bees in the feature), Virginia Madsen (who starred in the original) 1992), and even what looks to be the reflection of Tony Todd in a mirrored elevator as star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II summons the titular evil. There are also the recognizable artistic flourishes from previous Monkeypaw films. We and Get out, like the tight claustrophobic close-ups, the sound of squeaky strings, and the occasional humor of the supporting actors.
Peele, who also co-wrote the screenplay, and director Nia DaCosta presented the first trailer to a small cross-section of reporters a day before it went live, with DaCosta answering a few questions after the preview. “There is an ArcLight [movie theater] very close to where Cabrini-Green was. There is a lot of development in the area because Cabrini was demolished, ”said DaCosta. “So what we’re doing in our movie is talking about the ghosts that are being left behind because of gentrification.”
As for what the public will and will not see in what has been called a “spiritual sequel” to Bernard Rose’s first film in the fellow franchise, DaCosta said that she and Peele come from different schools of thought about how much bloody chunks should be present on screen versus how much should be left on suggestion, and that will satisfy sleuths to know. that there is “a

As to whether or not we’ll see Todd, the first Candyman himself, the director left that question open in a similar fashion, blocking out for a moment before proposing, “I really like Tony Todd. He’s iconic and, uh, I’ll say what we did this movie is awesome! Jordan is awesome and I don’t want to give anything away.
