The Houston Texans can’t call it a day just yet, but they’re winning as expected. It’s anyone’s game after a quarter, but Houston is ahead of the Detroit Lions 13-7. The Texans’ advantage came despite their 69-yard disadvantage.
Houston appreciated the team-team combination of QB Deshaun Watson and RB CJ Prosise. The former passed for a TD and 37 yards on eight attempts, while the latter was on the other end of that TD. Watson was efficient, with a passer rating of 130.10.
Houston has yet to go on a two-game winning streak, but it may be their luck. For now, all the signs point to yes.

The Houston Texans will hit the road to face the Detroit Lions at 12:30 p.m. ET Thursday at Ford Field. The Texans should still feel good after a win, while Detroit will look to right the ship.
Houston beat the New England Patriots 27-20 last Sunday. The team accumulated 21 points in the first half and fell back on those of the victory. It was another big night for Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson, who passed for two touchdowns and 344 yards on 37 attempts in addition to rushing for a touchdown and 36 yards.
Meanwhile, Detroit fell far behind the Carolina Panthers when they played last Sunday, dropping 20 to none. Quarterback Matthew Stafford had a pretty forgettable game, passing for just 178 yards on 33 attempts.
This next game is expected to be close, with Houston starting just a 3-point favorite. They hadn’t treated punters too well in the past (they’re 3-7), but they might be worth a shot now after they’ve beaten the spread two games in a row.
The Texans ‘win took them to 3-7 while the Lions’ loss brought them down to 4-6. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before kick-off: Houston is the worst in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game, averaging 159.3. Detroit had its own struggles as they jump into the game with the fastest allowed touchdowns in the league, after dropping 17 this season. It’s possible that one of those Achilles heels could end up tripping the losing team.
