Watch Miley Cyrus cover Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind” at Lollapalooza

Miley Cyrus has been working hard on alternative rock covers lately. In the past few months alone, Cyrus has performed songs by Hole, Mazzy Star and The Cocteau Twins. Last night, Cyrus titled the first night of Lollapalooza, America’s first full-scale music festival since the start of the pandemic. She opened her set with her 2013 hit “We Can’t Stop” and turned that song into a medley with the Pixies’ anthem “Where Is My Mind”.

“Where Is My Mind” wasn’t the only cover of Cyrus’ set last night. She also sang “Heart Of Glass” by Blondie, “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) by Cher”, “Say Hello 2 Heaven” by Temple Of The Dog and “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Sinéad O’Connor. She sang Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” with Billy Idol. (Cyrus and Idol also performed their recent duet “Night Crawling.”) Cyrus has also hosted guests like Kid Laroi, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J and G Herbo. She performed her “7 Things” for the first time since 2011 and “SMS (Bangerz)” for the first time since 2014. You can’t say she hasn’t treated this set as a big deal.

As for the cover of “Where Is My Mind”, it is almost disconcerting to see how this song fits perfectly with “We Can’t Stop”. It is not, however, the best cover of “Where Is My Mind” that we have heard last week. (It would be this one.) Watch a fan-made video below.
