WATCH: Nick Saban, Alabama coach, apologizes for the trashy speech

No. 2 Alabama has not played yet, but coach Nick Saban is already in top form at the mid-season. He spoke of players chatting on the pitch during his Thursday night radio show "Hey Coach".

"I tell our players, if you want to talk — to the other team, join the team damn debate," he said.

Of course, he immediately followed with an apology.

"I am very sorry to have used the name of the Lord in vain, but I am very enthusiastic about what I see in the sports we promote in the media and who, in any other way, are not really not a good thing, "he said. "It's not what we try to accomplish in what we do."

Here is a preview of the video of the rant.

Here's a quick reminder: Alabama did not take part in the match for a real football game since the Clemson National Playoff Championship. Saban is an expert in communicating with his team through the media, so it's a safe bet that this mini-speech is directed against what he's seen at the fall camp.

The Crimson Tide will open the season against Duke during the kick-wire-A match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 15:30 ET.
