Sunday at Lambeau Field at 3:05 p.m. ET, the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off for the NFC Championship and a Super Bowl ticket. Green Bay is expected to win – but not by much – so they will have to enter the game prepared for a fight.
The Los Angeles Rams usually have all the answers at home, but last week the Packers proved too difficult a challenge. Green Bay managed to secure a solid victory over the Rams, winning 32-18. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and RB Aaron Jones were among the main playmakers for Green Bay as the former had two touchdowns and 296 yards on 36 attempts in addition to scoring a touchdown on the run and the latter landed a touchdown at the race. Rodgers’ 58-yard TD bombshell against WR Allen Lazard in the fourth quarter was high on the list of highlights.
The Green Bay defense was also a presence, as it crossed the Los Angeles offensive line to sack quarterback Jared Goff four times for a total loss of 26 yards. It was a group effort with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay had more playoff success in its contest last week. They won a 30-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The score was tied 13-13 at the break, but the Buccaneers were the better team in the second half. It was another big night for quarterback Tom Brady, who had two touchdowns and 199 yards on 33 attempts in addition to hitting in a rushing touchdown. Brady ended up with a passer rating of 125.20.
The Tampa Bay defense was the real success as it had three interceptions and one fumble. These interceptions were distributed in their defensive unit.
The Packers found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 38-10 punch to the stomach against Tampa Bay when the two teams last met earlier in the regular season.
