Watch Stephen A. Smith laugh when asked if Alabama-Florida will be near, ends with a big ‘Roll Tide’

Alabama No.1’s average winning margin has been 32.7 points this season en route to a 10-0 in that conference-only record.

As Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide gears up for Saturday’s SEC Championship game against Florida No.7, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has been asked whether the title game will be near.

His reaction, of course, was the classic Stephen A. Smith.

“What?” he asked, laughing. “It’s an envelope. Funny question. I mean please. Since you haven’t heard from me in a while: Ala-bama. There is nothing to say here. I mean please. Haven’t the Florida Gators recorded two losses on their CV this year? Didn’t they lose to Texas A&M? Didn’t they lose to LSU last week in a “thriller”? But when LSU faced off against Alabama, they lost 55 to LSU. Or when they faced Texas A&M, wasn’t that 52-24? Florida lost to both of them, but will they give Mac Jones, Najee Harris and DeVonta Smith and crew problems? Please.”

In his third year in Florida, coach Dan Mullen led the Gators to the SEC title game for the first time since 2016 behind dynamic passing Kyle Trask, who threw 40 touchdowns in the shortened season – 10 more than anyone in the country.

Trask is second in the country in passing yards per game (360.3), one spot ahead of Jones at 345.9. Jones’ 27 TD assists rank third nationally. Jones is the nation’s No. 2 ranked passer and Trask is fourth.

None of this mattered to Smith.

“All day, every day, especially as it relates to the SEC this weekend in Alabama. It won’t even be close. My condolences to the Florida Gators. I love (Kyle) Trask. They have good players, but there’s no Tim Tebow in that locker room, talking about ‘let’s go, let’s go, let’s go’. It will never happen again. You are not going to play like garbage, apologize and defend yourself. There’s no one like that in that Florida locker room.

“Roll Tide. It’s madness. You can book it. I’m predicting the score right now. It’s going to be like – and I know the coaches will use that to motivate his team, it won’t work by the way – Alabama 52, FL 26.

“I predict an adventure.”

Good, you have it now.
