Watch Tesla’s self-driving beta navigate through the eye of the system in impressive video

In a new video, we get a rare glimpse of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta software at work through what it can actually see while navigating the city streets.

Tesla is currently testing the “full functionality” version of its Full Self-Driving beta package with a few thousand customers and employees through its early access program.

It is not yet considered autonomous driving as the driver is still responsible for the vehicle and should be ready to take control at all times, but Tesla’s system performs all other driving tasks autonomously, including driving. driving through intersections.

Tesla hopes it can continue to improve the system with customer feedback until they can collect enough data to show that it is safer than human driving.

At this point, Tesla would try to get the system cleared by regulators and shift the responsibility to the driving system, making it a fully self-driving car.

In the meantime, we’ve been tracking the progress of the videos posted by these owners as part of the Early Access program.

The video is really well done as we can clearly see that Tesla’s system detects lanes, driving areas, cars and intersections as they appear in the dark.

FSD shows solid driving behaviors, but it hasn’t been exposed to the harshest conditions with little to no traffic and clear markings on beautiful California roads.

I feel more and more confident in Tesla’s ability to deliver fully autonomous driving this year, but that will only be in places like California and other mild, continental climates.

Places where it snows a lot will be much more difficult based on my own experiences with Tesla Autopilot and how quickly the cameras can be turned off when the roads are dirty.
