A high school football game in Texas took a sudden turn when a player who had been sent off ran onto the field and crashed into the referee. In the match between the Edinburgh High Bobcats and the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High Bears, Emmanuel Duron of Edinburgh was sent off.

After the ejection, he returned to the field looking as if he wanted to face the referee. He ran aggressively across the field and slammed into the referee, who was unsuspecting, and fell to the ground.

Duron was escorted out of the stadium by officers from the Edinburgh Police Department.

Andrew McCulloch of RVG Sports took to Twitter to explain what he saw, calling it a “really really ugly moment here in Edinburgh”,

“Idk what happened but Emmanuel Duron was ejected from the match … Moments later he ran onto the field and the body slammed the referee who ejected him … Ref is still at earth on the grass. #RGVFootball #txhsfbMcCulloh wrote.

He added that a basket had been sent to help the referee on the pitch.

There was a long delay due to the incident.

McCulloch went on to write: “The referee has stood up and is walking under his own power … Hard to see Duron, a senior, play another game for the Bobcats – win or lose – after this incident.”
