The result comes from a series of straight-line tests conducted by the Carwow YouTube channel, which races its drag races on a track rather than a prepared drag strip. In the standing drag race, the Porsche easily won with a quarter-mile time of 10.1 seconds, beating the Nissan and its time of 10.8 seconds. The R8, which struggled from a standing start with its launch control, came in at just 11 seconds despite its V-10 power.
The race from a rolled start told a slightly different story, with the Porsche winning more narrowly in the first test and by a comfortable margin in the second. In both cases, the Audi came in second, easily ahead of the Nissan. The 911 Turbo S and R8 V-10 also narrowly beat the GT-R in straight-line braking tests, with the Audi winning by such a narrow margin it made itself almost useless.
Once again, the lesson here is that the current 911 Turbo S is about as fast as any car on the road without compromising anything other than total cost. And, while the Turbo S can boast the absurd numbers needed to win drag races, the “ base ” 911 Turbo is not to be despised either.
