Black Pumas performed two tracks from Grammy-nominated Album of the Year as part of CBS this morningthe last Saturday sessions.
For the virtual concert, the psychedelic soul duo from Austin, Texas, singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada – here joined by a full support group – performed explosive renditions of “Know You Better” and “Confines” of their eponymous debut in 2019; a deluxe edition of this LP was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys.
The Black Pumas, who were also nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammys, are also up for Record of the Year and Best American Roots Performance for their single “Colors.”
Burton recently spoke with Rolling stone for our Year in Review series, where the singer spoke about finishing the band’s next album as his biggest goal for 2021. “Finish and perform the new record live,” Burton said of his hopes for 2021. “ I’m ready to hit the road again and play in front of a live audience again. ”
