Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, who leaked the company’s internal investigations to the Wall Street Journal and the US Congress, will testify before a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday.
Recent surveys from the Journal have found that company executives understand the negative impacts of Instagram on young users, including increased suicidal thoughts. Documents also revealed that 6% of US users attributed their urge to kill themselves to Instagram, the Journal first reported.
Haugen unmasked herself on Sunday, before an interview with her aired on “60 Minutes”.
Last week, Facebook’s global chief safety officer Antigone Davis testified before members of the Senate, where lawmakers concluded Instagram should not create an app for children.
Watch the above hearing starting at 10 a.m.ET.
