Waze just inherited one of the best features of Google Maps – BGR

In recent years, Google has added to Google Maps a host of features that make its other navigation app, Waze, so popular. This does not mean that Waze is neglected because the company has just announced a brand new feature for Waze, which could further enhance your browsing experience: Google Assistant.

Waze is so popular with motorists because of its mass-generated traffic information, which can make all the difference when driving. With Waze's built-in Google Assistant support, you'll be able to do a lot more without touching the screen. You'll be able to search for places along your route and add stops along the way with only your voice, Google explained in a blog post.

You can also listen to music, send messages to friends and make calls, all while sending the appropriate command to the wizard. What's even more interesting is that Google Assistant works with Waze's crowd-sourced features. You can voice-announce traffic and potholes, or search for additional routes:

Just say "Hey Google, report traffic" or "Hey Google, avoid tolls" when you're surfing with Waze and your Google Assistant will keep you connected and informed and minimize distractions when you're on the move, so you can keep your hand on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

The best thing about seeing the wizard go to Waze is the confirmation that Google will not give up Waze anytime soon, especially now that some things you like in Waze are also available in Google Maps. The Assistant begins to deploy to Waze Monday in America on Android phones. It is likely that support for other markets and languages, as well as support for iPhone, will be available later.
