From its introduction in WandaVision, I was not behind SWORD director Tyler Hayward. Basically because I don’t trust white men in government especially in the Marvel world, and we knew he wasn’t as “innocent” as he said when he threw Monica off his base for questioning his motives. He turned on Monica, Darcy and Jimmy for daring to speak out against him and so Why does anyone trust him? This week was just further proof of how far he was willing to go to achieve his end goal.

When Monica Rambeau first goes to SWORD to meet Tyler Hayward, he acts like an innocent man. He makes sure to say he’s just an “interim” director and that he’s happy to have Monica by his side. Everything about his demeanor shows him as a man just trying to get a job done.
Obviously that threw me like 30 Red Flags, and it quickly showed who he was underneath, but “Previously on” showed us just what Hayward was willing to do to make Wanda Maximoff a villain in his eyes. employees. When Monica goes to the base, Hayward tells them all that Wanda stole Vision’s body and revived it in the hex against Vision’s will. But this week we saw that it was not at all the truth.
Wanda knows Vision’s body is in the New Jersey base for SWORD and she is going to meet Hayward. He shows her what they’re doing, tells her that she can’t bury him because of the vibranium, and allows her to say goodbye to Vision at a moment that has been absolutely heartbreaking for Wanda.
Wanda’s connection to Vision still came from the Mind Stone. His powers existed because of this, and Vision used the Mind Stone to exist. She could use her powers to connect with him, and when Wanda had to destroy the stone before Thanos got there, Vision told her “I just feel you.”
So the fact that Wanda can no longer sense Vision causes her to leave SWORD and head to a lot of the lands Vision had left her to “grow old”.
So, all of Hayward’s lies that he told his team are revealed, showing how willing he was to throw Wanda under the bus in order to activate Vision’s body. The experiments they were doing on Vision were not to dismantle it. They were trying to put it back together and get it back online. So Hayward lied at Wanda, his team and Monica Rambeau on what he was planning from the start.
Like Monica told Wanda last week, don’t let him turn Wanda into a villain. The ‘big bad’ might look like Agatha right now, but I still think Hayward has something even bigger than the white vision we saw at the end of the episode up his sleeve, and I afraid to see what kind of ropes he’s gonna shoot to use against Wanda Maximoff.
I knew I couldn’t trust him.
