Weather forecast for the evening of Thursday 28 February 2019

[ad_1]

The clouds will rise from west to east early this evening. The snow will develop in the same direction later tonight until the middle of the night. This snow will continue all night and until Friday morning. The snow will be briefly abundant, especially in areas south of I-80. Accumulations in the morning will be 1 to 3 inches in most areas between I-80 and Route 22, with a distance of more than three inches in more southerly locations. For this reason, a winter weather advisory is in effect for counties located south of Highway 22 from later this evening until 8 am tomorrow.

The roads will be slippery early Friday, but the snow will gradually decrease early in the day. In this time of year, the roads improve quickly thanks to a more powerful sun behind the clouds. The rest of Friday will be covered with more than sunny clouds with scattered snow flurries. The peaks of Friday will be in their thirties. Another weak front will move into the Saturday area with a good amount of clouds but just a chance of flurries, maybe even flurries. The peaks of Saturday will be in the 30s to nearly 40. A stronger storm system will approach the region Sunday. There is still a lot of uncertainty about this system, but there is a good chance that it causes slippery or dangerous shifts. Snow or a mix of snow and ice will form during the afternoon and will continue until Sunday evening. When the storm system retreats to the east, it will become windy and colder for the beginning of the first full week of March. The Sunday highs will be in the 30s, but it could start getting colder later in the day. It will be quite cold and windy with snow flurries and peaks in the 20's. The wind will make it feel even colder than that. Some places will fall to a figure Monday night. The heart of the cold air will be around Tuesday with some thunderstorms and highs in the 20's. Temperatures will drop to one figure in most places Tuesday night. Wednesday will be partly sunny but cold with highs in the 20s. The clouds will begin to rise on Thursday and it will remain cold the following weekend.
