ALERT: Winter storm warning New York City, Long Island and parts of the tri-state area
Sunday will be windy with snow at varying rates, diminishing towards the end of the afternoon.
The heaviest snowfall is expected between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Untreated roads will be snowy and slippery as three to six inches of snow accumulates in most areas, but six to ten inches is possible on eastern Long Island, which will be closer to the storm’s track. South Jersey should expect less snow due to milder temperatures allowing the rain to mix.
Expect one to three inches to the north and west of the city as these areas will be a long way away from most of the humidity with this storm.
Some rain and sleet could initially mix directly on the coast before snow took over.
And keep those shovels handy next week. We may have another chance to see snow or rain on Tuesday usher in extremely cold arctic air.
