Wednesday washing in the works

STRAIT – The winter mix over Metro Detroit turns into an ordinary rain maker this Wednesday.

There will be a slight surge of humidity and mild air this morning and that means rain with temperatures close to 40F. Be careful this morning and be prepared for poor travel conditions all day.

The rain showers will start to become more regular and a little heavier by mid-morning and throughout the afternoon. We should have a good quarter of an inch of rain and that again raises minor concerns for travelers. Highs will eventually reach around 50 ° F with rain looming in the evening and early into the night.

SUNSET: 5:04 p.m.

The model data is starting to split over the timing of our rain stop on Thursday. Data throughout the week indicated dry conditions at 1 or 2 a.m. Thanksgiving. There is now data suggesting persistent and light showers possible until 8 a.m. or more. We’ll definitely be watching this up close with the live American Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Detroit. No, we can’t go, but we can all enjoy a slice of Michigan comfort in the form of The Parade on Local 4. The skies will be mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 40’s until morning. Enjoy the show!

We’ll get into the low and maybe mid-50s during the afternoon over the Thanksgiving holiday with southwesterly winds 7-15mph and a few breaks in the clouds.

Black Friday seems dry in the 50s, and Saturday will be cooler with afternoon sun and just under 50F. Sunday will be a sunny day, but only in the 40s before a winter mix heads into early next week. The Local4Casters app is still your best weapon and your best tool to prepare for our ever-changing weather, and it’s free!
