As the period of increased fire risk continues, Pacific Gas & Electric cut off electricity in parts of the seven northern California counties early Wednesday.
The closures affected approximately 47,000 customers in Butte, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Yuba, Napa and Sonoma Counties. The areas are indicated by the purple line on the map above.
Specific addresses can be checked on the PG & E search page.
PG & E is scheduled to begin cutting food by 2:30 am Wednesday in the Sierra Foothills area and 4:30 in Napa and Sonoma. The electricity will remain off until the dry and windy weather has passed.
The security cut is the second of the week: Monday, PG & E has shut down about 23,000 customers in Butte, Nevada and Yuba counties.
The utility will attempt to contact the affected customers by phone, SMS or e-mail before the outages.
Community resource centers in the outage zone were scheduled to open at 8 am on Wednesday and will remain open during the day. They will have toilets, water, appliances and seats for up to 100 people. On the map above (house icons) are the currently planned centers in Santa Rosa, Auburn, Grass Valley, Magalia, Loomis, Oroville and Oregon House.
