We had a decent start to the year, with a win and a loss last week. Carolina should have won this football match and eventually pushed, and the Browns were in total self-destruct mode with 180 penalty yards to defeat the Titans. At the end of these games, however, I'm still not very optimistic about Tennessee, as you'll see from this week's picks.

Colts (+3) at Titans
Indianapolis has the qualities of a very complete and balanced team. The Colts outperformed the Chargers in virtually every phase of the game and would have defeated regulation without a lost-touch pass and seven points lost by their kicker. But Jacoby Brissett seems to play and the defense continues to improve, and I think the ground game is a handful. I do not buy Marcus Mariota and I believe Titans will feel the impact of being without their left tackler this week. There is an abundant opportunity of money here, as I love the Colts.

Broncos (+2.5) vs Bears
I was surprised by Denver's defensive performance last week. One of the biggest surprises of the week was the defense of Vic Fangio. I do not see this happening again, especially given his knowledge of Mitchell Trubisky. I do not see that the Bears offense is moving very well, and although this game may be one of the offensive offensive of the week, Mile High has always been a fortress in September. Fangio's first home game will feature guys like Bradley Chubb and Von Miller who have to slip away after slow starts in Oakland. And the Chicago line seemed vulnerable to the Packers. I'd like Denver to gain a naughty guy here.
