how the brown in 2021?
The Browns arrive on Sunday with a 2-1 record.
In week 1 they had a strong performance against Kansas City and fell short when our old friend Mike Hughes knocked out Baker Mayfield with just over a minute to go. 29-33 L at the Chiefs
Week 2 was a very unimpressive win over the Texans 0-3. The Texans had this game tied at halftime before Tyrod Taylor was injured. Davis Mills came in for a 3 and an out and an interception to help build Cleveland’s lead to 10. 31-21 W over the Texans
Week 3, the Browns got Justin Fields in his first start. The passing offense scored 1 yard for the Bears after accounting for sacks. The Browns’ defense is pretty good, but not that good. 26-6 W on the hapless Bears
Browns injury issues
Odell Beckham Jr. returned last week after missing a considerable time with a knee injury. Colleagues WR Jarvis Landry and Ryan Switzer are on IR. Starting LT Jedrick Wills JR and C JC Tretter are both on the injury report Wednesday and Thursday as DNP. RT departure Jack Conklin and his replacement Chris Hubbard were also limited in practice. This bodes well for our revamped DL to put pressure on Baker and control the Browns’ solid running game. Newbie CB, rookie Greg Newsome II has already been excluded from the match.
Vikings worried about injuries
It looks like Cook could be good with limited attendance on Wednesday and Thursday. Anthony Barr was also limited and could make his first appearance of the season. Tyler Conklin did not compete on Wednesday, but was back in training Thursday on a limited basis. Kick Returner ISM was also absent with a toe injury, but I don’t think it would have a significant impact on the team if he didn’t play.
My gambling prediction
I think it will be a game with a lower score than most seem to think. I think the Browns are going to chew a little ground clock and the Vikes will need the TDs to show up this week. I felt the DE held the advantage last week against the Seahawks and they will have to do it again to channel the RBs inside to Kendricks and Vigil / Barr. I don’t think Baker has enough to beat the Vikings in the air. The Browns are a little beaten up on OL and the Vikings’ offensive is buzzing. I will predict a 23-20 win for the team in purple. If it was on the road or if the Browns were perfectly healthy, I would probably feel a little different.
