Week 5 has come and we have a full game list, and there have been some big wins.
Most notably, Cincinnati beat Notre Dame for their first road victory in the top 10. Georgia shut out Arkansas 27-0, and Michigan sensed it against Wisconsin and beat the Badgers 38-17. Alabama handled business against Ole Miss in a 42-21 win. But there is still plenty of day and even more night for dramatic action to occur.
Check out all the results, reactions and celebrations from across the country.
Few teams have more potential than Arizona State and UCLA, and both have made it to this week’s SP + top 10 because of it. They each suffered frustrating losses from mistakes: ASU edged out BYU by 1.5 yards per game but lost 27-17 due to four turnovers, while UCLA averaged 7.5 yards per game against Fresno State but allowed eight wins over 20 yards and fell 40-37. But no match on this side of Alabama-Ole Miss has more fireworks potential.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels and full-backs Rachaad White, Daniyel Ngata and, when healthy, DeaMonte Trayanum give the Sun Devils one of the scariest backfields in the country. The ASU defense also ranks third for havoc rate – TFL, defended passes and forced fumbles per play – thanks to players such as lineman DJ Davidson and linebackers Darien Butler and Kyle Soelle. Read more on Bill Connelly’s Week 5 preview (ESPN +).

Arkansas have a knack for smart post-game tweets, but since the Razorbacks didn’t even put any points on the board, that’s all they had.

SMU just has great marketing, that’s what we get from it. Seize the moment, if you will.
SMU has used notice boards from local actors in different parts of D-FW over the past three years as part of its “Born and Raised” campaign.

Michigan State coach Mel Tucker certainly appreciates that the Spartans are 4-0 heading into Week 5, and with MSU facing West Kentucky it looks like he’s going to reach 5-0 pretty easily (ESPN Football Power Index gives the Spartans an 89.2% chance of winning).

“License” takeover
Now we all know there are a lot of crossovers between college football and the Bachelor franchise. Oh no ? A quick look: Matt James, the newest singles, played football in Wake Forest. One of his teammates at Wake Forest was Tyler Cameron, who was in season 15 of “The Bachelorette”.
It was just announced this week that ESPN’s Jesse Palmer will be the next host of “The Bachelor”. Palmer was once the bachelor in 2004, so it’ll be interesting to see what perspective he brings to the show’s 26th season.

Light the jets, Tyron Evans!
Tiyon Evans of Tennessee scores his second touchdown of the first quarter on a 92-yard rush.
Miami and Virginia played Thursday this week, and that touchdown from Brennan Armstrong at Dontayvion Wicks is pretty spectacular. A little risky. But still impressive.
Brennan Armstrong throws a misguided pass through heavy traffic that is abandoned by the defense and somehow ends up in the hands of Dontayvion Wicks for a 36-yard touchdown in Virginia.
