Fresh from their video starring Finn Wolfhard for a-ha's "Take On Me," Weezer is back with a pair of original songs of their next Black Album, which should come out on March 1st. They follow the previous singles "Can not Knock The Hustle" and "Zombie Bastards", the latter being actually rather good.
"Living In L.A.", a piece of radio rock overproduced, is not. "High As A Kite", meanwhile, is melodic and convincing, Rivers Cuomo's heart-rending guitars adding a little spice to an otherwise vaporous ballad. It is also accompanied by a very good music video that portrays Cuomo as a type of Mr. Rogers who terrifies a very heavy studio audience by a diabolical riffage. Plus, Pat Wilson is drumming in the chef's hat, which is good.
