When Timothée Chalamet was first chosen as Willy Wonka of this generation in Paddington The new film about the origin of candy from director Paul King Wonka, we had a lot of questions. Questions such as: “Why? Or what? “Or” Will Timothée Chalamet Wonka be just a sensitive young man with long dark hair wearing a top hat and long coat? Well, Chalamet posted a photo of him as Willy Wonka on social media and… yes, that’s exactly it.

He has a top hat, he has a long coat, he has Timothée Chalamet’s long hair, he has a sensitive young man’s face, Timothée Chalamet, all the things we wanted to see! He even has a scarf and maybe some sort of fingerless glove, both of which we didn’t even know we wanted. He doesn’t appear to have any candy, which is worrying, and he also doesn’t seem to torture children or enslave anyone. These are the things everyone knows Willy Wonka loves, so hopefully that little sidelong eye he’s doing goes in the direction of candy, spoiled kids, or Oompa Loompas.

We don’t know much about Wonka, with this photo being the clearest indication yet that this is even a real movie that will actually be released, but the photo seems to involve an olde-time vibe that could be more in line with the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film starring Gene Wilder as Johnny Depp’s most recent film. Timothée Chalamet is sort of the new Gene Wilder, right?

We don’t necessarily believe it, but there isn’t much to say about this picture. It looks like it’s snowing. Snow is fun. Tobogganing, skiing, snowmen. Sno-caps is a kind of candy. Do Oompa Loompas come from a snowy climate? Maybe this movie will finally reveal that they are doing it.
