The eyes of Jets head coach Adam Gase attracted a lot of attention at his key press conference in January, but he will have another use starting in September.
The Jets have hired running back Le Ve Bell as a free agent this month. He joined the team after spending the entire 2018 season because he did not sign the announcement against the Steelers. Bell stated that he felt good after a long layoff, but he had used the Steelers extensively in previous seasons and that there would surely be some rust to eliminate once the regular season passed .
Gase said the Jets would be aware of both aspects of Bell's workload.
"You can wear a guy with too many rushes, keys, shots and workouts," said Gase, via ESPN.com. "We will keep an eye on that. It will not be there that we will burn it in the first six months. We are aware of it. "
Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon are coming back as substitutes in the Jets' backfield, with Bilal Powell remaining an unsigned free agent.
