It’s here! The first two episodes of Wellington Paranormal, New Zealand manufacturing series spin-off from 2014 What we do in the shadows movie, are now airing on the CW. You can just rush out there right now and watch “Demon Girl” and “Cop Circles,” or you can check out that “extended” trailer the CW released for anyone who might need some extra flirtation. .
Honestly, it’s not much different (if at all?) the previous CW trailer released, but this version is no longer available, so it’s hard to say for sure. The first two episodes are well represented here; “Demon Girl” sees Officers Minogue (Mike Minogue) and O’Leary (Karen O’Leary) never deviate from the strangeness of the facts, even when doused with gallons of vomit by a possessed teenager – ” I think she’s not okay, “observes one of the cops, massively downplaying the obvious. With the paranormal unit established in the first episode,” Cop Circles “sees the partners heading out to the countryside to see why the cows are stranded in the trees and eventually make their way to the discovery of extraterrestrial activity.
The CW also released a teaser for episode three, “Things That Do the Bump in the Night”.
Three seasons of six episodes of Wellington Paranormal were broadcast in New Zealand so far – plus a Christmas special and a series of public service announcements on safe driving and covid-19 precautions – so hopefully the CW sees fit to air the whole lot . The next episodes of the first season see Officers Minogue and O’Leary encounter werewolves, evil clowns, zombies, and at least one familiar (vampire) face from the What we do in the shadows movie.
Wellington Paranormal also stars Maaka Pohatu as Master Sergeant Maaka, who secretly keeps tabs on the city’s most ‘unusual’ cases, and of course an unseen film crew standing ready to capture every hilarious and ironic fourth moment . New episodes are available to stream for free on Monday evenings on the CW– have you ever watched the show, and if so, what did you think?
