WFAN’s Craig Carton isn’t backing down in a war of words with ESPN’s Jeff Passan over the network’s explosive report of the sexual harassment of former Mets general manager Jared Porter against a foreign reporter.

Carton blasted Passan on Wednesday for opening his afternoon shift, calling him “a whiny little weasel.” Carton also said that ESPN did not care about the woman Porter was harassing with 62 unanswered text messages, including a photo that allegedly showed his erect penis.

Additionally, Carton called Passan a “whiny little bitch” before her show started and was called up by noon host Maggie Gray for the term. he also tore up Passan on Twitter for his initial praise for Porter’s hiring by the Mets and accused him of attempting to take credit for the reporting by co-writer Mina Kimes. Passan said he was not aware of Porter’s behavior when he was hired.

“They called her. They brought her back to her worst nightmare, having to face the reality of her stalker, ”Carton told the air. “Let’s not act like they’re giving a rat’s ass about the victim, because they don’t.

Porter sent the messages to the woman in 2016 while working for the Cubs. ESPN, according to its report, first learned of Porter’s misconduct in 2017, but did not report it at the request of the woman he sexually harassed. ESPN said it has since had “periodic” contact with the woman and that the woman decided to come forward anonymously after Porter was hired by the Mets in December.

Carton and co-host Evan Roberts criticized the timing for ESPN’s report, suggesting the network sat there until Porter was hired into a prominent position. Passan then rebuffed that claim during an appearance with ESPN Radio’s Michael Kay, who Carton and Roberts seek in the afternoon driving ratings war.

“There’s another radio station in NYC that was damn irresponsible today about covering this, and I hate giving them shine because they don’t deserve it,” Passan said. , via the New York Post. “The idea that ESPN has been sitting on this story since 2017 is the most gigantic load of irresponsible garbage I’ve heard in a long time.”
