Watch out for the glitch that can break your PS5! Sony’s next-gen gaming console is finally on the market, and while reviews of the system and its games have been overwhelmingly positive, there have been some issues with the launch itself. Perhaps the worst problem that some top gaming influencers face can even crash your system or make it totally unusable due to software failure. At the very least, it could result in a full reboot if you’re not careful.
Here’s what causes some PS5s to brick on day one – and how to prevent it from happening to you.
What is the problem? Reports of this issue first surfaced on November 10 when YouTuber ACG posted a tweet about that. “At the moment my PS5 is 100% dead,” he writes. “I had storage rebuilding issues reported by others, but mine turned into full errors and network / boot issues. Sony and I were working on troubleshooting when he completely died. ”
This problem is apparently caused when the PS5 tells gamers that it needs to “rebuild” its storage. This same issue has been reported by other notable influencers like Giant bomb editor Jeff Gerstmann, who explained in a November 10 tweet that his system also crashed and went through an “external drive repair sequence” which ended with a black screen that could only be fixed by restarting the console.
While Gerstmann’s system isn’t completely brick-built, it’s clear the PS5 has storage issues. We don’t know how prevalent this issue is, but if it happens to at least two people with units available prior to launch, it will clearly affect a number of owners on launch day November 12 and beyond.
What causes it? While we don’t know the exact technical issue, one game appears to be the main culprit: Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. This remaster is a bonus for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales The owners of the Ultimate Edition who paid an additional $ 20 to experience an updated version of the classic PS4.
