Manchester United star Ashley Young has become a reliable back for the past two seasons.

The English international has largely figured in the left back under Jose Mourinho's latest campaign, before appearing right under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Still, Young revealed that he was still harassing Solskjaer for what he's playing even higher in the offensive role he'd played when he joined United from Aston Villa. in 2011.

The 33-year-old has found the back of the net late in his mid-week success against Crystal Palace – the 18th goal of his career at United – and hopes to have the chance to play a little further in the future.

Young was found on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace in the middle of the week

"I still consider myself a winger," he told United Review.

"I still say to Ole in training:" I am a winger or a No. 10! ".

"We played against young players in training the other day and the older ones won, and I was right for that, so maybe Ole could put me there!

"As I said before, you have to adapt nowadays.

Young admits that he is harassing Solskjaer for what he's playing as a winger on the training ground.

"Different managers play with different systems and you have to be able to play in different positions.

"I have a decent football brain, so I can change positions as long as my legs move up and down the field.

"I feel as fit as any of the young boys who are there and I will continue to give 100%."

It had been said that Young could have been used in a midweek group of three considering the United injury crisis, but the promising young player, Diogo Dalot, was preferred in the role since he was 39 is imposed 3-1.

Young is once again ready to put himself in a defensive position as the Red Devils host Southampton in a crucial match on Saturday to try to strengthen their top four hopes.
