While there is still a silver lining that Ben Simmons will start the 2021-22 season in a Philadelphia Sixers uniform, the possibility of that happening is getting darker by the day. Right now, it looks like the All-Star playmaker is doing all he can to make his way out of Philadelphia. This would apparently include Simmons’ willingness to skip Sixers training camp altogether.
According to a anonymous scout in the NBA, the general belief is that Simmons could ghost the Sixers in order to force a team trade:
“A scout I spoke to said he wouldn’t be surprised if Simmons considered skipping training camp if he hadn’t been traded.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard a similar rumor. A few weeks ago, it was also reported that Simmons had cut off all communication with the Sixers, which included not answering calls from teammate Joel Embiid.
There are more than a few teams watching Simmons’ situation with the Sixers. The Golden State Warriors have been one of the teams linked to a trade for former NBA winner Rookie of the Year. This recent development only adds fuel to the possibility of a sensational move for Simmons. The Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves have also reportedly expressed interest in Ben Simmons.
For his part, it looks like Simmons has already made up his mind. It doesn’t look like he sees his future in Philly, and at this point he seems willing to go all out to make it happen.
