What Buffalo Bills’ Brian Daboll Said About Head Coach Rumors

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is already a hot commodity and his team are still playing.

As the Bills (13-3) continue their season in their Wild Card game on Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts (11-5), more than half of the NFL will not do the same. Their seasons are over and many of these teams have already made changes.

These moves across the league have a lot in western New York. Some believe the Bills could lose Daboll’s services soon and no one really wants that given the steps taken by attacking and Bills quarterback Josh Allen in 2020.

However, Daboll already had interview requests from the Jets and Chargers, so there is a real possibility that he will be poached by another team to be their next head coach.

Even with the rumor mill spinning more and more every day, on Monday during his weekly video conference, Daboll spoke about having a crack in such jobs. While grateful, he tried to assure Buffalo that he was focused on the task at hand.

“I appreciate the question. We have a very important job to do here for a short week. All I’m going to do with our staff is focus on the Colts, ”said Daboll. “Humbled by this, but focused on what we need to do here.”

“You have a huge challenge ahead of you. You better be focused, ”Daboll added.

The Bills certainly won’t win a win over the Colts, even though they are almost favorites. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott is hopeful, like many, that Daboll won’t be distracted by scheduled interviews after the upcoming game. Teams are not allowed to speak to Daboll before the Bills-Colts game, but it will stay on his mind.

Naturally, of course, McDermott simply backed Daboll who could potentially land a gig.

“When you win, people want a piece of winners,” McDermott said earlier this week.

Arrogant? May be. Specific? Well he has a point …
