What CFP rankings would like if released after week 6

The college football playoff committee doesn’t hesitate to discuss the importance of having an elite CV in deciding a team’s ranking.

And now that we have crossed the six weeks of the 2021 college football season, the CVs of some teams are starting to separate from the others.

With a loss in Alabama on Saturday to an unranked Texas A&M, the Crimson Tide is our biggest loser of the weekend.

With this loss, the Georgia Bulldogs remain the undisputed No.1.

But after Georgia, it’s not really that close.

Penn State lost to Iowa in a big game, Michigan barely beat Nebraska, Oklahoma came back to beat Texas and Georgia took a resounding victory over a top-20 Auburn team.

Here we give a look at how we would rank the top 10 teams if the college football qualifying rankings were released after an exciting 6 week.

The first ranking round will be published on November 2.

10. Ohio State Buckeyes (5-1)

Ohio State was tested once, against Oregon, and lost. I am not impressed.

9. Michigan State Spartans (6-0)

The Spartans have claimed Power Five victories over Northwestern, Miami and Nebraska. They still have three big games left (Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State). They have a Heisman favorite in Kenneth Walker. While I don’t see Michigan State ending the season in the top 10, you have to credit him for what he’s done so far in Mel Tucker’s second season.

8. Kentucky Wild Cats (6-0)

We’ll find out if I’m crazy or not this weekend when the Wildcats face Georgia.

7. State of Pennsylvania (5-1)

Penn State remains in the top 10. He lost on the road by threes.

6. Crimson Tide in Alabama (5-1)

Down Bama! Crimson Tide drops to No. 6 because, well, they’re in Alabama.

5. Cincinnati Bear (5-0)

Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder (9) holds the ball after the NCAA football game on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. The Cincinnati Bearcats defeated Notre Dame Fighting Irish 24-13. Syndication: the investigator

Desmond Ridder is super cool, but a win over a really average Notre Dame isn’t enough for me to believe they belong here. But again, who else?

The victories against Miami (Ohio), Murray State and Indiana do not impress me.

The remaining teams on the Bearcats calendar are:

UCF, Navy, Tulane, Tulsa, South Florida, SMU and ECU.

I mean, come on now – that’s why UCF never succeeded. Program real opponents if you want real rewards.

Maybe Cincinnati can make you think he deserves a playoff spot because he beat a big-name program like Notre Dame, but I’m no fool. I see the Irish for what they are: America’s most consistently overrated program.

4. Michigan Wolverines (6-0)

I hate everything about Michigan being ranked # 4. But who else can I put in here? Don’t say Cincinnati.

Michigan barely beat Nebraska.

3. Oklahoma Sooners (6-0)

Kennedy Brooks (26) of Oklahoma runs for the winning touchdown at the Red River Showdown College Football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the University of Texas (UT) Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Saturday, October 9. , 2021. Oklahoma won 55-48. Syndication: The Oklahoman

Yuck. What’s wrong with the level of talent in college football this year? Oklahoma looks terrible, but again, I have no choice.

A big name, a powerful program that gets at least some excitement and audience, but overall it’s another disappointing team so far this year.

Let’s see… the Sooners beat Texas, Tulane, Nebraska, West Virginia and Kansas State by 28 points combined. Ouch.

2. Iowa Hawkeye (6-0)

Ok, Iowa, you have earned my respect. I had the Hawkeyes at No.5 last week, and they made me look silly, beating Penn State and going to No.2.

Well done.

1. Georgia Bulldogs (6-0)

I thought it would be Alabama, but there isn’t a team in college football even close to Georgia’s level right now.
