Now that Game of thrones Sophie Turner begins to embark more and more on her acting career.
Turner is about to play in the twelfth installment of X Men movies, Dark Phoenix, playing Jean Gray / Dark Phoenix.
As the actress has to play a powerful mutant with telepathic and telekinetic powers, she is very much involved in the preparation of her role.
Sophie has intensively studied mental illness
As her character fights between two personalities (Jean Gray and Dark Phoenix) throughout the film, Sophie Turner had to find a way to fully embody a person with mental illness.
To understand what it was like to live with divided personalities, Turner studied real-world mental illness (schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder), in order to better highlight Jean's internal struggle after absorbed the Force of the Phoenix during a mission in space.
Sophie Turner has even prepared for the role by doing everyday things while listening to videos to live what it's like to have voices in her head.
"I found this amazing video on YouTube, and that was what it feels like when you feel auditory hallucinations," Turner said. Weekly entertainment. "I put it in my ears and I wandered [New York City]and I was trying to do mundane tasks like shopping and talking to people on the street, and it was really difficult! "
She is fully engaged in the role
Although it was difficult to fully embody a person living with a real mental illness, Sophie Turner did not let the challenge stop her from giving an electrifying performance.
Sophie is not only happy to have been fully committed to playing Jean Gray, but producer Hutch Parker and her co-stars have been extremely impressed by the actress' work.
"The film tells that Jean went from this character to something else, and that's what Sophie did. She went from being a child honestly [2016’s] X-Men: Apocalypse to be incredibly engaged in the work and to come up with a level of readiness that said clearly, "Oh, hush!" said Parker.
Many could say that Sophie Turner was fully dedicated to this role even before filming began and it shows.
"If Sophie had to do 10 hours of work, she would do 20 hours of preparation," said James McAvoy, who plays the role of Professor X in the film. "She's definitely entrusted to Simon and trusted him, while helping him create that momentum."
As this was Sophie Turner's first big role, she certainly did not disappoint.
Many of us already how much of a talented actress she is watching her on Game of thrones but seeing her fully embody Dark Phoenix has just confirmed that Sophie Turner has a very successful career in cinema before her.
