When the members of Def Leppard realized they weren’t going to be exploring the world on the Stadium Tour last year, they decided to conquer the back of their wardrobe instead. A new online museum they dubbed the Def Leppard Vault (a nod to their compilation of the greatest hits of 1995, Vaulted) collects images of artifacts from over 40 years of group history and group commentary.
“After months of rummaging through our personal rock & roll closets (and our warehouses, no less!), We bring you our story,” frontman Joe Elliott said in a statement. “Our Historical Vault will be continually updated with installments you may have seen with Gems I promise you have never heard or seen! It’s a real backstage pass for any Def Leppard or rock and roll fan! Please… come in and walk this way!

Current Vault Gallery offerings include a collection of photographs (pun intended) of the band’s entire history, a comprehensive collection of Leppard-branded t-shirts, a preview of the mysterious “Don’t Ask” shirts that the group wore during the race The liberation of Hysteria (“When’s the record coming out?” Elliott points to the shirt), the musicians’ favorite fight jackets (and the band’s extra audio), and the band’s song-by-song commentary on the original. Vaulted tracklist.
There is also a section devoted to “artifacts”, including reminiscences of the round game on the Hysteria tour, the band’s private planes, Phil Collen’s favorite guitars, and commentary on Collen and guitarist Steve Clark’s escapades in Paris, among others. Def Lep fans also have a space to show off their own extensive collections of memorabilia. The members of the Def Leppard group promise to update the Vault regularly for years to come.
Meanwhile, the group hope to hit the road again for the Stadium Tour this summer. Depending on the state of the world, the trek will begin in Nashville on June 19 and will continue through September. Collen recently said he was looking forward to the tour with a caveat. “I am really confident [it will go forward] if they get vaccinated, ”he said Jeremy White Podcast (via Blabbermouth). “It’s the same all over the world. You say, “Hey, are you coming to such and such a thing? Well I don’t know if we are allowed to travel and if we would be allowed to fly or even in this country. So it looks good – or not. We really don’t know. It really depends on how everyone is approaching this pandemic etc.
