Apparently, running SeaWorld is a temporary job this summer.

SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. announced today that its CEO, Gustavo Antorcha, had left office just six months after taking office. Antorcha, who previously ran Carnival Cruise Lines, spoke of "a difference in approach" regarding his resignation.

Antorcha took less time than the executive search that hired him to replace the acting CEO, John T. Reilly, the park's long-time director who left the company after Antorcha got the job. Heck, I know seasonal temps who spent a lot of time in the parks in Antorcha.

SeaWorld has promoted its chief financial officer, Marc Swanson, to the last rank of acting general manager. Chief Accountant Elizabeth Castro Gulacsy becomes Acting Chief Financial Officer, while maintaining her position as Executive Director, which means that SWE will save at least one FTE with this switch.

SeaWorld began to behave well last year under Reilly, as it brought free beer back to its parks, which helped to increase attendance at the former parent company Anheuser-Busch. Once AB was bought by InBev and the Belgian conglomerate separated from the parks, SeaWorld began its decade of decline.

Next year, the company turned to roller coasters, and more, as it announced new roller coasters for its San Diego, San Antonio, Tampa, Orlando and Williamsburg, Virginia parks.

Whether this change of leadership means that SeaWorld will continue to organize more beer festivals and thrill rides, or choose another course, remains to be seen.
