The Baltimore Ravens didn’t have much to do in their 17-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night in the NFL Division Round.
Justin Tucker, the NFL’s most accurate kicker, missed his first two field goal attempts by hitting the ball twice on the uprights. His only mark was even close.
After reaching half-time tied at three, Harbaugh’s defense gave up a first scoreline which resulted in Stefon Diggs nabbing a quick pass from Josh Allen. Baltimore put on a 15-game practice that lasted nearly nine minutes and led them to the Buffalo nine-yard line. On 3rd and on goal, Lamar Jackson would look for his favorite target, tight end Mark Andrews, only for Taron Johnson to jump in front of the pass and take him 101 yards home to give Buffalo a two-point lead. It was the first interception in the red zone of Jackson’s career.
Bad shots also plagued Baltimore throughout the night and the Ravens’ training that followed, Jackson would have to come back close to his end zone to recover the lost ball. He attempted to throw it away, but was flagged for intentional stranding and injured on play. He would be placed in concussion protocol and not return to the game.
Despite a bad day at the office all around, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was nothing but class to Bills head coach Sean McDermott. After Buffalo’s victory, Harbaugh had a simple message for McDermott.
Win it all.
After the game, Harbaugh met the media and praised Buffalo’s game plan.
“Kudos to Bills,” Harbaugh said in his opening statement. “Obviously they played a really good game of football in all three phases. They were error free and capitalized on their opportunities. At the start of the second half, the turnover was also significant. They did a great job. Sean, Leslie and all their guys, congratulations.
Buffalo will find out who they face in the AFC Championship game tomorrow afternoon, when the Cleveland Browns take on the Kansas City Chiefs. If Cleveland pulls off the surprise, Buffalo will host the championship game. If Kansas City wins, however, the Bills will head to Arrowhead Stadium.
