Police weighed in on the viral video of a brawl at a convenience store in Elyria, Ohio, which took to social media last week. The clip shows a racist man getting slammed with a twisted can of tea after spitting insults for at least several seconds. Local police said The Chronicle-Telegram that they believe they identified the men in the video, but no charges have yet been filed.

Elyria Police Lt. James Welsh has confirmed he’s seen the now infamous “Circle K Twisted Tea Fight” video making the rounds on social media. As of Thursday afternoon, he said, no one had called to officially report the incident and no charges were filed. Still, Welsh said police already knew the parties involved. “It has obviously gone viral on the internet, but to my knowledge it has never been called or reported,” he said.

Welsh’s statement did not say whether the incident was under investigation or if anyone involved should be concerned about facing charges. Most internet commentators seem to be hoping that no legal intervention has come from the video, believing that justice has been served there.

The video is about a minute and 40 seconds long, apparently at the end of a confrontation between two customers at a Circle K convenience store. A white man repeatedly shouts the N word in the video, claiming he can say it when he does. wanting him and challenging the black man next to him to do something. For the most part, the black man is calm, but it’s clear the two were arguing before the recording started.

Things got physical when the black man held up a large box of Twisted Tea, prompting the white man to strain his face and say, “Go on, slap me with” over and over. Black did so, smashing the drink against the racist’s face and knocking him to the ground. The two then briefly warmed up in a clearly one-sided fight before the black man came out.

The video was recorded on Thursday, December 24 and has circulated widely since. It has now gotten over 2.4 million views on Twitter, where it was apparently posted first. It has also made waves on YouTube, Reddit and Instagram. So far, none of the participants in the fight have come forward publicly.
