What to expect in Fortnite v15.40: “Most Amazing Thing Ever”

Fortnite v15.40 is scheduled for release on Tuesday, February 16. Here’s what to expect in the update.

Rumor is swirling regarding Fortnite v15.40. Some players, who claim to have insider knowledge, called the content in version 15.40 “the most amazing thing ever.”

We’re not sure exactly what this means, but we have some ideas. Here’s everything you need to know about the update before the patch notes arrive on February 16.

Bug fixes

Bug fixes are a natural part of any Fortnite update. We only have a few issues to fix in v15.40, which may not be the primary focus of the update.

One item we don’t see in the list is the Superhero Skin Set. In version 15.30, Epic attempted to remove the ability for players to use all black and white superhero skins. However, fans quickly found a workaround, which led to Epic removing skins from competitive modes.

Here are all of the items listed as “Fixed in the next game update” on the Fortnite Community Issues Trello board.

  • Total number of bars appearing as 0 in a match.
  • Purple XP coins disappear when passed through (without granting XP).
  • Matchmaking does not start if an unprepared player leaves early.
  • (Creative) Phone booths do not adhere to island settings when players change outfits.
  • (STW) Find a Durrr Burger without counting for the “Locating: Burger Break!” Quest for adventures.
  • (STW) Mythic Lead Survivor portraits only appear as silhouettes.

“The most incredible thing there is”

February 14, Data Miner ChinaBR tweeted that a Japanese content creator, urara_123urara, said version 15.40 was going to be a “real mess” and “the most incredible thing ever.”

We’re not sure how this creator would know what the v15.40 update has in store for the game, but it has led to massive speculation within the community. What could be an amazing addition and a mess at the same time? We have no real idea.

With the Season 5 FNCS underway, it wouldn’t make much sense to completely change the game’s meta. If Epic made a big change, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a Fortnite update mid-way. -tournament.

If anything huge happens to Fortnite, we expect it to be left out of competitive modes for the remainder of the season.

Weapon / vehicle mods?

Normally, we’ll assume that these leaked features will be kept until Fortnite Season 6. With rumors that this is a massive update, however, we’re starting to think we might see weapon and vehicle mods sooner rather than later.

Earlier this year, data miners found files related to weapons and vehicle mods coming to Fortnite in the future. That would be huge for the game, which is why many fans have assumed that Epic will hold out until Season 6.

With rumors around v15.40, however, these mods are the only major leaks that come to mind. We’ll have to see what happens when v15.40 is released.

Again, we have no idea if weapon and vehicle mods are coming to Fortnite in v15.40. Common sense dictates that these will be Season 6 features, and we’re only including them due to speculation about the impact v15.40 will have on the game.

An un-vaulted weapon

Epic Games has confirmed that v15.40 will feature an un-vaulted weapon. We have no idea what it’s going to be, but we can guess what the majority of the Fortnite community probably want: the Pump Shotgun.

Outside of this weapon, it’s hard to guess which returning weapon we might see. Burst AR may return, but Heavy AR is already filling this slot. We wouldn’t mind seeing the Burst stay away for the rest of the season.

If the pump returns, the shotgun loot pool would be relatively crowded. We would have the Charge, Lever-Action, Tac, and Dragon’s Breath shotguns. With all of these options, we’d probably still see most gamers picking the pump over everything else.

Whatever happens, we’ll be there to cover changes, fixes, patch notes and everything in between when the new Fortnite update is released. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @FortniteINTEL so you never miss the latest Fortnite news.
