According to the White House, the Trumps wore a Tiffany & Co. poppy silk and silver brooch in a custom White House wooden jewelry box in a red leather box for Queen Elizabeth II.

For her husband, Prince Philip, they brought a custom Air Force One jacket and an autobiography signed by the American General and the famous World War II commander, James Doolittle, "I could never be so lucky again."

Although Prince Philip left the active naval service when he was married to Princess Elizabeth, he was appointed to the army, including as marshal of the Royal Air Force.

The first lady was "very involved in the selection of gifts," said her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

"By working with the state department, Ms. Trump takes care of choosing meaningful gifts," she added.

Similarly, the assets were presented with their own gifts, in keeping with the long-standing tradition.

For the president, the queen offered the first edition of 1959 "The Second War World" by Winston Churchill, bound in purple crimson goatskin with gold tools and a set of Duofold pens in three parts.

Trump has a known affinity for Churchill; in one of his first notable acts as president, he restored the bust of Winston Churchill, moved under the Obama administration, to the oval office.

For the first lady, a specially commissioned silver box with a hand-made enamel lid.
