What wireless accessories should you buy?

Apple launched its truly wireless in-ear headphones, the AirPods, more than two years ago. Now Samsung has released its AirPods-killer, the Samsung Galaxy Buds. I've been using the AirPods since the very day they were announced, and the Galaxy Buds just moments after their revelation.

Read on for a definitive comparison.

By the way, I'm aware of Apple's AirPods seem to be updated imminently. I will update this notice as soon as the new model goes on sale, if not before, so please come back.

Install

It's pretty simple with both pairs of in-ear buttons, but especially simple if you have AirPods and an iPhone. It is extremely easy to connect Apple AirPods to an iPhone or iPad. It is not difficult to associate Samsung Buds, but it is much easier with AirPods. Not only that, but when you switch to your Mac, for example, and you have the same Apple ID, the AirPods are smart enough to go virtually effortlessly.

That said, Samsung simplifies the connection of Galaxy Buds, whether you're using a Samsung phone, another Android phone, or an iPhone.

L & # 39; adjustment

With In-Ear Earphones, in particular, their insertion into your ear is crucial. The AirPods seem to fall and get lost very easily. In fact, they remain in most ears pretty well, rarely, if ever. In my ears, they have remained constantly in place, whether they are of current use or running. I have never lost an AirPod.

But let me tell you that there is no chance that the Samsung Galaxy Buds will fall on your ears. They have elastic ear cups that, once you have inserted them, turn back to attach to your ears with ultimate safety.

connectivity

I will be honest, I took Galaxy Buds early and they were just not ready. Connecting them to an iPhone was particularly excruciating, with losses, inconsistencies and unreliable sound. They drove me crazy.

But more recently, a software update has taken place and everything has changed. The connectivity of the Galaxy Buds has become as solid and reliable as on the AirPods since day one.

From the outset, the connection between Apple products and AirPods was flawless, but it also worked very well with Android phones, for example.

Apple still has the lead on the simplicity of connection and pairing, but Samsung is now close.

Audio quality

That's the big one, right?

The AirPods have always seemed sensational. True, they do not match the bass of this other brand Apple, Beats, but they always sound good, whether you listen to classic rock or heavy.

Clarity is one of the most remarkable products, with a loud voice, impressive mediums and a catchy sound.

Samsung is getting a lot closer by adding more solid bass and more powerful sound, but rarely exceeds Apple for in-depth richness overall.

In fact, when it comes to the separation of different musical elements, Apple's buttons are more precise, I would say.

Battery life

The life shown for Galaxy Buds between charges is 13 hours in total, six hours for the heads themselves and another seven hours for charging. Since Galaxy Buds are bigger, you can imagine that they have a longer life than Apple, right?

In fact, Apple claims five hours with the AirPod (it's less!) But another 19 hours with the case (oh, wait, it's over!).

Charging is also faster on the AirPods: 15 minutes of use for three hours of use, while Samsung promises just under two hours of play with a 15-minute charge.

Versatility of assembly

I have never had a problem with an AirPod that falls off my ears. Literally never. But I know people who have. For them, the perfect fit of the Samsung will be a real benefit. It's a very good fit. Push them in, then rotate them so that the protruding bit comes back into the ear. Brilliant.

Quality of call

You know how much the AirPods twist your ears, in a way that seemed strange at first, and then as ubiquity blossomed, it has now become normal and is becoming iconic? You see, this pointed design is one of the reasons why call quality sounds as good as it is because beam forming microphones are aimed directly at your mouth collecting every word without death.

It's not that Samsung's micro-buttons are mediocre for calls, they're not, but I'm not quite convinced that they know as well which bit is your voice and which what is the background, and then prioritize accordingly.

Additional features

One of the things that excites me most about AirPods is how, when I take a pod from my ear to talk to someone, the music pauses. Put it back, the music restarts. That's the very definition of cool.

Samsung has introduced something similar, except that you have to remove both so that the music stops. This may make more sense: you may need both ears to engage the conversation properly. But that does not restart when you put back the buttons. I think it's a pity, but if you have not had the sublime transparency of the Apple solution, you can not miss it.

Charge

There is nothing wrong with charging through the Lightning cable. It's fast and efficient, even though the USB-C charging on the Samsung Galaxy Buds is probably faster and more convenient. But Samsung has another advantage: the wireless charging box is a master shot. Of course, Apple created this feature first, but it has not materialized yet, although it can only last a few days, I believe.

Meanwhile, Samsung has made progress in two ways. Firstly the charging box and then, (how is that cool?), You can charge the wireless Buds by placing the case on the back of the Samsung Galaxy S10, thanks to its bidirectional charging capability. This is a good feature for buds, an excellent feature for the phone.

The Apple AirPods & nbsp; are great now, but when will AirPods 2 be available?Apple

Verdict

Since the software update has saved the Galaxy Buds from the hype, Samsung's true wireless headsets are very impressive. But the audio is not significantly better than Apple's and in some ways not as sharp.

Wireless charging, secure fit, are the two wins for Samsung. All in all, I would say that thanks to remarkable bonuses like auto-pairing, smart pause, and a brighter design, Apple simply by-passes it.

But wait for the AirPods 2 to rock.
