Whataburger comes to Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – It’s the hamburger news that Colorado Springs Texans have been anxiously anticipating for years: Whataburger is finally planning an expansion in the Front Range.

The Gazette was the first to report on development based on a proposal submitted to the Colorado Springs City Planning and Development Office.

The location would go in the InterQuest Marketplace, which is just off Interstate 25 on the north side of town. This means the popular Texas-based fast food chain will be close to the California-based fast food chain that just opened at the end of 2020, In-N-Out Burger.

According to the proposal filed Friday, the first Whataburger in Colorado Springs could open as early as this fall.

Whataburger headquarters confirmed the news on Wednesday.

“Whataburger is growing and we have more good news. It is true that we do plan to bring our iconic burgers and exceptional customer service to Colorado Springs. We will have more information to share in the future, but we have some big fans in Colorado Springs and we hope they are as excited as we are.

Whataburger, which offers many options more than just burgers, opened in 1950 in South Texas and has since spread to hundreds of locations in 10 states.
