Apex Legends Season 8: Mayhem update will be released on February 2 and there are a lot of changes being made to the patch. Check out Respawn’s full patch notes.
Obviously, the main changes are the addition of the new Legend, Fuse, which comes from Salvo, as well as the new weapon – the 30-30 Repeater.
Kings Canyon was also significantly changed, as Fuse’s entry into the Apex games didn’t go smoothly and his old friend Maggie crushed the party – literally.
But the most exciting part of the patch notes themselves is how Respawn adjusted the various Legends with nerfs and buffs, as well as some of the quality of life changes. Check out Respawn’s notes below.
Apex Legends Season 8 Mayhem patch notes
NEW LEGEND: FUSE
Meet Fuse: a mercenary fighter turned cage who never refuses good dust. His affinity for explosions allows him to carry additional grenades and throw them faster and further. He can throw a cluster bomb with aerial explosives. And when it’s time to really bring the boom, Fuse uses “Wally” to launch a bombardment that encircles an area in a ring of flame.
Passive – Grenadier
Stack an additional grenade per inventory slot. Fire grenades farther, faster, and more accurately.
Tactical – Knuckle Cluster
Throw a cluster bomb that continuously blasts explosives on impact.
Ultimate – The Motherlode
Launches a bombardment that surrounds a target area in a wall of flame.
NEW WEAPON: 30-30 REPEATER
This heavy-ammo lever repeater has hard-hitting cartridges that will nail a fleeing Mirage at 200 paces.
The 30-30 sets the benchmark for reliability, built to withstand sandstorms and temporal instability, which has made it an obvious choice for Apex Games.
DISCIPLINED TRIGGER FINGER
The 30-30 Repeater forces the user to re-chamber their cartridges between shots, bringing a methodical rhythm to the rifle, an analog elegance that modern Outland weapons simply cannot capture.
To further tempt those itchy trigger fingers, the 30-30 Repeater has a built-in charge that gives players the ability to deal increased damage with each shot at the cost of a short stack.
The 30-30 recharges one turn at a time, making it a very interesting resource management that you won’t find anywhere else, even on the Mastiff.
The 30-30 engagement range provides unique opportunities to reload individual turns between shots. This gives the repeater the ability to apply constant precision range pressure, which guns with full reloads can sometimes struggle with.
KINGS CANYON MAP UPDATE
Season 8 sees changes in Kings Canyon again. The new main point of interest shows the devastation caused by the crashing ship on the map. Players can now explore beyond artillery, Spotted Lakes takes control of slums and new lookout towers for basic reconnaissance or a sniper’s nest.

LEGENDARY MAGAZINES
Season 8 features Gold level magazines. Attaching it to a weapon will automatically reload your stowed weapons after a short delay. Gold magazine has the same capacity as Purple mags and is available for light, heavy, sniper, and energy weapons.
QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES
Damage counter
- We have now added a damage marker to the HUD. This was a hotly requested feature, so we’re excited to make it easier for people to track these badges and challenges!
Ammo pinging
- Pinging weapons or ammo in your inventory displays your current ammo count as well as “player wants ammo” in a quick chat.
Update color blind
- Healing and resuscitation will now follow the rules for color blindness when the color blind settings are enabled
Lore Blurbs on Canon skins
- Some of our skins are hot, and some are just for fun. For the skins that are an important part of this character’s backstory, we’ve added a little blurb to describe the importance of this skin in the life of the legend.
META LEGEND
Spectrum:
Developer Note:
We know Wraith will always be a popular choice given the amount of combat utility in its kit. After many changes to his abilities and animations, the fact remains that his win rate continues to be at its highest since day one. With the Season 7 hitbox adjustments in Pathfinder, we were able to control his potency without nerfing his kit. We hope to do the same with Wraith.
Wraith now has a slightly larger hitbox than his fellow Small Legends, but the changes stay true to his model. As you can see in the before and after comparison, we are adding width mainly in the torso and leg areas:
Even with these changes, Wraith remains small and difficult to touch. It will keep Low Profile while we monitor its usage and gain rates to see if electricity can be returned by other means in the future.
Rampart:
- Increased Sheila’s angle from 120 ° to 180 °
- Wall health in build phase increased from 1hp to 45hp (sniper bullets still go through)
Developer Note:
Rampart has remained at the bottom of our performance indicators since its release. Much of its kit is built around proactively creating a powerful position, but in a game as fast as Apex, we’ve determined that its walls should have some reactive power as well. We’re keeping a close eye on this one.
Horizon:
- Gravity Lift effective cooldown has been reduced from 21s to 25s. The 15 sec cooldown now begins when the Gravity Elevator disappears.
Developer Note:
Horizon came out strong, to the point where it rivals Wraith in win rate and select rate. For now, we’re monitoring its usage and checking whether or not the cooldown changes have a significant effect.
Octane:
Launch Pad Remastered: Many players may have been familiar with Octane’s “super-jump” that was possible with a well-timed jump by hitting the pad. Once the double hop option was introduced there was an input conflict which led to unreliable use. We decided to add more defined launch options than the old super jump.
- Hitting the jump mat from a standing position will launch players along a high arc (the speed and trajectory of the old super-jump).
- From a squat position, players will launch along a low arc, which means they will fly lower but farther in the horizontal direction.
Crypto:
- Remove the ability to glue arc stars to friendly drones.
Loba:
- Loot inside unopened healing packs can now be viewed with Eye for Quality and can be accessed through the Black Market Store.
Caustic:
- All gas now dissipates as soon as Caustic’s team is eliminated.
Mirage:
- Mirage decoys create footsteps.
Developer Note:
This change was incorrectly mentioned in the Fight Night patch notes when it actually came with this patch. Mirage decoys will now have a footstep sound in a limited capacity. There won’t be a pitch tornado if an enemy Mirage is flying nearby, but it should be slightly more difficult to choose the true Mirage from audio cues alone.
