Juventus will now enter a new era after a heart-wrenching Champions League elimination against 10-man Porto on Tuesday in the round of 16. – marks the end of a cycle and could bring many new features next summer.

In the meantime, Juve confirm that Andrea Pirlo will remain as coach until the end of the season. It is not until May that the board will decide whether to make a change of coach or continue with him at the helm. Much will depend on whether Juve win their 10th consecutive Serie A title. Inter Milan are currently 10 points clear in the table, but with one game more than the Bianconeri.

“I was called up here at Juventus because it is the start of a new project, looking to the future and for several years,” Andrea Pirlo told Sky Italia after the match. “I will continue my work calmly.”

Besides Pirlo, Cristiano Ronaldo’s future will certainly be an important issue to watch on the road. So far, Juventus have always defined Ronaldo, who is still under contract for another season (until June 2022), as untouchable.

Juve’s sporting director Fabio Paratici posted the following response on Ronaldo’s future:

“Renewing his contract is not an immediate issue on the agenda – it’s time to talk about it.”

And now Juve need to talk to Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes to figure out what he will want to do at the end of the season in what could be a busy few months in Turin.
